Fun little turkey trot reminder for direct sales consultants

This  is just a fun little reminder I send all of my Turkey Trotters. It’s so important to make things FUN while you’re reminding them how to be successful in collecting orders. 

Again, my job as a consultant is to set the bar so HIGH that they will never look anywhere else for another consultant!

This is all about increasing sales while celebrating your hostess AND giving them reminders on how to get those last minute orders.

If you’re looking for a quick sale, you’re missing the point with a Turkey Trot. This is to build trust and a relationship with those “part-time” hostesses. Make it fun, and maybe they’ll be booking their own home party in January!

I bought these erasers half off this week at Hobby Lobby. One eraser goes in each envelope with the flier. And make SURE you write DO NOT BEND on the envelope or it will poke through and the eraser will fall out!

A little apology goes a long way in customer service

I know I work in Direct Sales. But some days, I feel like I work in the “Yes I can piss you off today” department. RIGHT?! 

I shared this tip with my team that I have been using for YEARS. And it really does work on the normal person. Taking ownership of your customer’s anger sets the tone and they almost CAN’T be mad at you. Try it next time!

Here is what I posted to my team. A little apology in customer service can go a long way:

Ladies, little trick I learned along the way. I don’t know where I heard it, but I’ve done it for years and it really does work. Whenever you’re talking to a customer about something “uncomfortable”, say the words…PLEASE FORGIVE ME. It’s like a universal ice breaker and they can’t help but ease their tension and feel that you sincerely want to make something better.
Lost an order
can’t get a credit card to go through
can’t get her to close and you really need to
messed something up
whatever it is, start with please forgive me

Of course, I still have people that want to poke my eyes out, but for NORMAL people, this works

I use these, I highly recommend them, and the company is top notch customer service! You can leave these boxes ANYWHERE and get leads while you’re watching your favorite TV episodes, doesn’t get much better than THAT!

It’s SO important to always be getting new leads for your direct sales business.  Find places that will let you leave this for a month and give away a prize.

Mom and op restaurants

Daycare centers

coffee shops

Diners

Dry Cleaners

**You want to make sure you’re reaching a huge variety of customers. Don’t stick to the same places!!

As a direct sales consultant, I’m guessing you’re gearing up for a Turkey Trot of some sorts this fall season.  If you don’t know what your objectives are for it, you’re going to miss the mark!

And if your objective is some quick sales, you’re REALLY missing the mark! Figure out what you need in your business. Is it recruits, bookings, sales? Write your goals down and then figure out how to get there. That’s what I did!

Turkey Trot for Direct Sales Consultants

So if you’ve been around direct sales for awhile, chances are you know all about the Turkey Trot! The idea is that you get 6 people to collect $100 in orders. Then you submit as one big party and divide up the hostess benefits, right? Most of us are experts at this. But if you’re new, it can be very confusing. So to help out our newer consultants, and make sure they can be just as successful as the pros…I made this quick training video in order to show our newer consultants just how to run a Turkey Trot!

Throughout the year, they will be named all different kinds of things according to the season or holiday, but the concept will always be the same!

  • The name may be different, but the concept is exactly the same!
