Super Cool Hostess Coaching Tool

Posted on Updated on

Hostess Coaching… you either love it or hate it. But regardless of how you feel about it, it’s a necessity for home parties and even more important for online parties.

Did you catch that? I said it is even MORE important for online parties!

I am sure all of your companies have some type of Hostess Coaching training and script/checklist of how to coach your Hostess to hold a successful party for your particular company. But we’re going to dive into some “out of the box” ideas to really make a great first impression and even better results.

I recently did a full training on hostess coaching (which you can find here: CLICK HERE FOR FULL TRAINING), but this is one of my favorite pieces from that training.

Here’s an awesome new idea that I am doing for my online parties when it comes to Hostess Coaching:

Like I said, online parties take even more work than home shows. Sometimes we need to take an old idea, shake it up, and give it a new face and name.

It is  not an entirely new idea, it is something we used to do regularly in the party plan industry and have kinda gotten away from over the last decade since Facebook came into our lives. Melissa is about to go all OLD SCHOOL on you and take you back to doing something that WORKS!

The video below will walk you through the awesome tip that I am excited to share with you, but before you watch it, I want you to open your mind and be willing to hear and try a new idea, do not write it off as “that will never work” until you actually try it. You are reading this blog article for a reason, you want to learn to Hostess Coach better.

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.” – Henry Ford

This tip is out of the box, but really how out of the box is it? We used to do it with great success years ago and then I honestly believe that Facebook has made us LAZY! Lazy in how we run our business, lazy in how we Hostess Coach, lazy in how we work with our teams. Don’t get me wrong, I am totally PRO-Facebook, but I think we have lost some of the fundamentals that really move the business and give it a the personal touch. People are craving the personal touch these days and I believe that is why this tool has been so successful for me!

Hope you love the tip! And remember, this is just ONE single tip from that Hostess Coaching training we did over in the Elite Group . I would love to share the other gold nuggets with you too! You are invited to join us in the Directly Social ELITES or purchase the entire training below!

Melissa Fietsam,

Create a Google Form for your Hostess to Get Her Guest List to You!

Posted on Updated on

I’m trying something NEW and FUN for invitations to my direct sales party!

I created a virtual Guest list form for my hostesses. They can send this link to their friends and family via Facebook, text, or email to get their guest list filled out.

Why would this help me AND the hostess?

1. They have multiple avenues to send it to people

2. They don’t have to mail it back to me

3. I can post it in their Facebook event

4. I have contact information to add to my contact base

5. I have multiple ways to send invitations and reminders

6. And I always have her party’s contact information stored

Check out this “mock” survey I created so you can see what one looks like. DO NOT FILL OUT THE SURVEY!

I created this form in Google Forms. All you have to do is google….Google Forms, to create your own survey.

I created the picture to go in the form, from, which is a free site where you can create pictures.

So what will I do with this information?

1. I will send them a mini catalog with party information. Each invitation I send has a #. I call one # at the party. And if that person has their invitation on them, they win a prize.

2. If my hostess re-books in the future, I still have her guest list.

3. I can send a “targeted” mailing in the future to all of her guests because I still have access to her guest list.

4. I can send a text reminder a couple of days before the party, to remind everyone. And one the day of the party.

5. In the reminder text, I can also post a link to her party in case they can’t make it

6. I can also send an email invitation to her guest list.

7. On her Facebook event, I can post this link with an incentive for filling it out to get their catalog. Just another way to increase attendance and gain more contacts.

When you’re working in Direct Sales, it’s so important to have multiple ways of inviting people to the party. With this form, it makes creating the guest list a BREEZE. It’s going to take some pressure off of the hostess by having her guests fill out the information FOR her.

So here’s to trying new things in your Direct Sales business for 2015! WOOT WOOT for change and SIMPLE~EASY~FUN!

And you know what’s really cool? There’s an APP for your google forms! So you can access all this party information directly from the Google Drive app on your phone! WOOOHOO for….”there’s an APP for that 🙂 ”

Create a Survey for your Direct Sales Customers, Google Forms rocks!

Posted on

Surveys are SO much fun! I have created surveys for my team and my customers for a few years now. And I always have great success with them.

So WHY would you want to create a survey?

You can reach a ton of people this way

You can ask all the right questions

You can get everyone’s updated email and address

You can ask your booking and recruiting questions

You can ask specific questions targeted to something you’re working on

My latest survey was made for my new Birthday Club:

I asked:

2. Birthday month

3. Email address

4. ever thought about doing a catalog show

5. What month would you like to do that (with 3 months to choose from)

6. ever thought about doing a home show

7. What month would you like to do that (with 3 months to choose from)

8. ever thought about doing a fundraiser

9. ever thought about becoming a consultant

Now, I have used for probably 3 years. I recently tried Google  Forms and I think I may be making the switch. I have had a couple people send it my way in the last couple years. Meaghean Farrington sent it my way about a year ago. And then Missy Nelson sent it my way just recently. So, when  I had a second, I decided to play with the Google Forms.

Here is what I like about Google Forms vs. Survey Monkey:

~Google Forms does not have a cut off # for responses. Survey monkey cuts you off at 100 responses before you have to PAY to view them

~Google Forms allows you to view the responses right from your screen in some kind of excel looking document (I’m no expert, that description is as expert as it gets. lo!)

~Google Forms has a much “cleaner” feel to it. The survey just looks nicer in my opinion

Would you like a video on how to create a Google Form? Here you go!

In Direct sales, it’s so important to always keep things fresh for your customers. A survey can help you do that. You want to know what they’re THINKING!  You can ask them the booking and recruiting questions in a “non-threatening” way. You could also ask them a question about something you were working on (party themes is one I’ve done).  So check out this quick tutorial on how to set up your own survey:

Here is the link to create your own Google Form:

Celebration Tables for Direct Sales Consultants

Video Posted on Updated on

So the idea is you set up a table at a local store, you hand out “awareness” stickers…I talk about Breast Cancer awareness stickers in this video, and you do a give a way with your direct sales product in order to get new leads.

Watch this 4 minute video explaining:

If you’re not consistently gaining new leads, your business will eventually hit a brick wall! This is a way you can:

1. meet new people

2. build relationships with local business owners

3. build relationships with the employees at these stores

4. and get your name out in the community

How in the WORLD could you NOT do this?? Right??

And the best part about it….it’s CHEAP!! Do a give away with a retired product you have in stock. Grab some brochures or awareness stickers for super cheap, and GET YOUR NAME OUT THERE!!

The website I got the stickers from is:
