How to Create a Domain Name for your Business

Posted on

Let’s talk about branding your business with a domain name!

Branding your business is one of the most important steps you will ever make in your business.

What does branding mean?

Branding means you’re creating an expectation in your business. Your customers know what to expect from you. It’s the who, what, why, when, how…of your business. There me be thousands of consultants in your company or industry, but branding is what will set you apart from all of them. It can be anything from color palettes, fonts, graphics, and visual materials…to a wide stream of platforms and concepts you use in your business.

But the most important thing about branding, is that it simply sets you apart and your customers immediately know YOU when they see your branding. Branding is something you want to think about when you’re ready to kick your business up a notch.

And a domain name, is one simple (and inexpensive) part of that plan.

Check out this video to learn all about a domain name for your website: (https://youtu.be/ffWl68atNpY)

Some simple truths about a domain name:

Keep it simple:

It has to be short! In order for people to remember your website name, keep it short and simple. You also want to keep it short so it fits nicely on business cards and marketing materials. If it gets too long, people won’t remember it and you’re going to have a hard time fitting it onto marketing materials.

2nd grade reading level:

Make sure the words you use are EASY TO SPELL. Not everyone could win a spelling bee. And you want to send them to the right site. So don’t put words that can be easily misspelled. For example, mine is BUYMYBAGS. Kind of hard to get that one wrong. So really take a moment to find something catchy and SO EASY that it can’t be mistaken.

Locations and names:

Stay away from locations and names! Locations LIMIT you. You don’t want someone to see “Ohio” and think you only service people in Ohio. Think bigger and leave out those locations. With names…those are probably the most COMMONLY misspelled words. Even a name like mine, Melissa…there are 15 different ways to spell it. So stay away from it altogether.

Numbers:

Stay away from numbers in your domain name. People will transverse them, mix them up, and simply forget the number. So don’t use them! My brain goes all fuzzy if I hear numbers or directions. Don’t even risk it!

Policy and procedures:

Each company is different. So make sure before you set this up, you check with your company to make sure you’re allowed to set this up. There are certain companies that allow this…and some do not. So always make sure it’s within your guidelines first.

Branding across the board:

Once you have identified what you want your domain name to be, brand yourself across the board. Pinterest, Twitter, customer group, Facebook business page, Instagram…make it all MATCH. Make sure your customers can easily find and identify your personal brand anywhere they go. That’s the most important thing!

Mission statement:

And last but not least, think about your mission statement. What do you want your business to be known for? What do you want YOU to be known for? Who is your target market and what can your business do for them? These are all questions that your domain name should answer. Create a voice for your brand and then learn how to integrate that into every single social media platform you have. Branding is FUN! I promise. And it will breathe new life into your business when you “own it”. Time to level up my friends!

Happy branding!

Hostess Coaching Challenges

Posted on

Hostess Coaching is one of the most important things you can focus on in your business.

You do all this hard work to get these parties books and then many times, you don’t fail because of a script or hostess…you fail because YOU failed to do hostess coaching.

When you slack on hostess coaching:

  1. Your sales go down
  2. Your bookings go down
  3. Your recruiting goes down
  4. Your hostess experience goes down
  5. Your “repeat hostess” rate goes down

I could really go on and on…the effects of poor hostess coaching are endless.

So we’re trying something new this month. It’s a different form of the hostess coaching envelopes we’ve previously done.

Here’s the deal:

We’re going to have 5 hostess challenges. All income producing activities.

For each step they complete, they get a gift from me. It’s a very small and inexpensive gift, but COOL!

The biggest mistake you can make in hostess coaching is assuming your hostesses know what to do. They don’t.

BEFORE WE GET STARTED…HAVE YOU JOINED DIRECTLY SOCIAL ON FACEBOOK FOR MORE GREAT TIPS?

JOIN DIRECTLY SOCIAL HERE: https://www.facebook.com/groups/directlysocial/

Hostess Coaching #1:

Challenge your hostess to get $200 in orders BEFORE her party even starts.

Send her packet early and get her talking to people.

I created this post and printable to help mine get started:

CHALLENGE #1: Print this form (or just post in the comments below) your top 20 people. Message them all and let them know you’re having a 31 party that starts July 1st. And then ASK THEM if it’s ok to add them to the party! ONLY 20! That’s it!

All you need is 20 friends to join your party, interact, and have fun!

So your message might look like this:
Hey girl! I’m having a 31 party (all online). Is it okay if I add you to the party to take a look? It won’t start until July 1st but I wanted to make sure it would be ok to add you when it starts! My consultant has a pretty crazy line-up, she does things a lot different than the normal!

CHALLENGE #1: Text me a picture of your list completed or messages you sent your friends!

You can actually print this PDF by downloading it here:
https://1drv.ms/b/s!AkYgT2PVhSEHjHtZMuITHkqfBTpl

Hostess Coaching #2:

This one I create in Mad Mimi, a messaging service. Mad Mimi is $10 a month. MailChimp is free. I use Mad Mimi and I created a video to show you exactly how I use it to hand my hostess a tool for Hostess Coaching #2.

She is challenged to send this text message/link to everyone she can and post on her timeline. The goal is collecting orders and getting people added to her Facebook party.

Here is my LINK: https://madmimi.com/s/25966a

And here is the video on how to create your own.

Hostess Coaching #3:

Challenge your hostess to go Facebook Live and ask her friends to join her party. IT WORKS! I’ve had huge success with having my hostesses do this!

Hostess Coaching #4:

Have your hostess send a message to everyone she knows with a LAST CHANCE TO ORDER:

  • Have her text message people
  • Have her post on her Facebook profile
  • Have her send people a Facebook message

Give her the words to say. Hand her a scripted message WITH A LINK to send to her friends. Make it easy and they will do it!

Hostess Coaching #5:

Book a party for 6 months from now with the new catalog.

Now you’re front loading your calendar like a BOSS.

There are MANY different things you can do with hostess coaching challenges, but these are the ones I picked for this month. I challenge you to think about what YOU need to get in your business and revolve your hostess coaching around that.

Happy Hostess Coaching!

Smart Marketing for your Direct Sales Business

Posted on Updated on

Do you do giveaways in your direct sales business? Did you know there’s a right way and a WRONG WAY to do them? Make sure you’re doing it right!

What is your desired outcome?

First of all, never do a giveaway without a goal behind it. Unless you just like to throw money out the window. In that instance, carry on!

You HAVE to have a goal: booking a party, recruiting, getting someone added to an opportunity event, getting people added to your customer group, getting orders…WHAT IS YOUR GOAL?

Your giveaway should have a clear outcome that you desire. Every single thing I do in my business has an intention behind it. And it must be an income producing activity. Before you post ANYTHING…think, “How is this going to benefit me?”.

Now I’m not saying you shouldn’t post helpful things for your customers with no intent to sell, quite the contrary. But if you’re giving away something for FREE, you better make sure you’re getting something in return! Or you’re wasting your money.

Do you have a plan?

Once you decide, okay..I want some bookings. Create a 5 step plan.

  1. I’m going to post a picture of these bags with numbers on them
  2. Tell everyone they have 24 hours to book  party, pick a bag, and win a prize
  3. Have 2 supporting posts to give REMINDER POSTS about it
  4. Hand out/mail goodies
  5. Follow up post

**Figure out what you’re going to.

**Give it a time limit. This is very important to create the urgency around the giveaway…ACT NOW

**You can’t just post something and expect everyone to see it. You have to have supporting posts. For example: After the original post, follow up with a graphic showing the hostess packets all ready to go out the door, “Look what I have ready to roll out the door. Grab yours now, ends at noon tomorrow!”. Another post could be all the prizes in the bags. And each time someone grabs a prize, post and tag them in your closed group. Give everyone the feeling of, “awe…I want one too”.

**Make sure your stuff is ready to roll out the door. Don’t make people wait.

**Make sure you have a follow up post to show all you gave away. So next time, they’ll jump when they see you post something. FOMO (fear of missing out)…it’s real folks. LOL!

What is your budget?

Make sure you know what it’s going to cost you. Know what you can afford and don’t go over.

  • Supplies
  • Shipping cost
  • Shipping supplies
  • Giveaways

How often do you do giveaways?

I like to do a giveaway every Friday in my customer group. Why? Because it creates engagement. Because it’s a tool for me to use in GETTING people to join my customer group (“join my group for weekly giveaways!”). And I can create the giveaway around whatever I’m trying to accomplish that week.

In my Facebook parties, I don’t like keeping track of 10 different parties and giveaways. You can tell them you’re doing a giveaway, they earn tickets, BUT…they actually have to join your customer group to GET the giveaways. I hold all giveaways IN my customer group. Again, income producing activities. Get them added to your GROUP for long term engagement. Otherwise, you’re giving away prizes to people who may never order or book in parties. Not smart marketing.

Follow up!

NEVER do a giveaway without follow up. How do you follow up? Ask them to TAG you on social media. When you mail something awesome to someone, add this card to it. Or a note asking them to tag you. I decided to create these postcards to put into all my mailings and hostess packets from now on. Because that’s SMART MARKETING. I got some help from Kim at Night Owl Custom Design. I can simply add their name and it asks them to tag me on social media…and…get a hashtag going for my group.

ORDER YOURS FROM NIGHT OWL CUSTOM DESIGN

And you can check out all her awesome designs on there. I love making my own graphics. But I also know when to ask for help. And Kim is who I trust for that!

So there you go, some smart marketing tips for you!
